Quartz Typeface
Quartz was initially inspired by two distinct locations: Oakland (California) and Turkana (Kenya). Despite being continents apart, both evoke kinetic and rhythmic energies that are reflected in the faceted design. The angles and movement led us to the name, Quartz, after the ubiquitous crystal.

Expo 22 Typeface
Inspired by the Seattle World’s Fair, Expo 22 strived to encompass some of its characteristics into a versatile display typeface. Though intrigued by the modern aesthetic that highly geometric typefaces create, I was unhappy with how severely rigid the words became. It seemed to limit their use as well as hinder legibility. To address this problem, Expo 22 fuses subtle humanist elements with its geometric letterforms. The result is a modern sans serif typeface design that is adaptable and legible enough to extend through many different contexts. Expo 22’s condensed, streamlined letterforms create a futuristic aesthetic reflective of Seattle’s World Fair.
